June Steel Shipments up 3.2 Percent from June 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of June 2018, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,988,026 net tons, a 0.8 percent decrease from the 8,056,366 net tons shipped in the previous month, May 2018, and a 3.2 percent increase from the 7,736,846 net tons shipped in June 2017. Shipments year-to-date in 2018 are 47,304,057 net tons, a 4.1 percent increase vs. 2017 shipments of 45,459,086 net tons for six months.

A comparison of June shipments to the previous month of May shows the following changes: hot rolled sheets, down 1 percent, cold rolled sheets, down 2 percent, and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 2 percent.
